Look on the account dashboard or a recent bill and copy the full electricity account number. It commonly begins with A-. If an account covers more than one address, confirm which property the tariff belongs to.
Open the electricity account details and note the tariff name, including its region and any time-of-use wording. A display name from a billing app may be shortened, so use the supplier’s full product name.
Note whether the home has a smart meter and record the import and export rates for the relevant time periods. Compare meter type, region and payment method with the details on your bill.
In the Octopus web account, look in account settings—often under Personal details and Your settings—for Developer settings or API access. Aveum does not currently use this key. Only create or replace one when the service you are setting up explicitly requires it; replacing a key may affect other services.
Use Aveum’s public tariff listing to compare the tariff product and rates. A tariff appearing in the list does not mean Aveum has accessed your Octopus account or meter readings.
A setup can pass through several checks. One successful step does not automatically confirm every other part.
Check the electricity section of a recent bill or open the account’s tariff details in a web browser. If the name has changed after a renewal, use the current account details.
Check the tariff version, region, payment method and time-of-use periods. Some tariffs have separate rates by time or meter register, so a single headline rate may not describe the whole tariff.
The public listing may not include every tariff or regional variant yet. Keep using the figures shown by your supplier and check compatibility again later; do not send account credentials to support.

Check the online account dashboard or a recent electricity bill. Copy the complete number and make sure it belongs to the property whose tariff you are reviewing.
No. An API key is a separate credential. Aveum does not currently ask you for one. Never put your account password into an API-key field.
Account options can differ between the app and website. If you are setting up another service that specifically needs a key and cannot find it in the app, check your Octopus web account settings.
Not just to prepare for Aveum. A new key can replace the old one and interrupt services that depend on it. Check which services use your current key before replacing it.
No. Aveum does not switch your energy supply or change your tariff. Any tariff details shown are there to help you understand your setup.
Tariff products and rates can vary by region and meter configuration. Matching the complete details helps avoid comparing your home against the wrong product.
